Mixed Media Butterfly Dreams - process

I sketched her on watercolour paper which I gave a light coat of gesso first.
Then I cut the sections apart and used them as a pattern for the sections of her dress etc.

I often pin the pieces of my creations up on a board so I can get some distance and view from there.

Here you can see the canvas I created. First the coat of gesso, then adhering cardstock using matt medium, some of which I dry embossed first for texture. I used soft gel medium with acrylic paint for dimension and spounced it using a sequin poop stencil. You can see I've painted the girl's face also with acrylic paint and used a Faber Castel pen for accents on her features.

I inked the "tattoo" on her dress and also the details on the lace and otherwise.

Here I started to adhere little punched flowers.

This is the piece before I added the little inchies and butterflies. I also peeled the punched flowers off leaving the stark white and fuzzy textured flowers in her hair. I did go back in and using white paint, added some detail and highlights to the "tattoo".

Still in progress, I've added butterflies and used Faber Castell pens for detailing.
