FreeSpirit Cigar Box Swap - July 2012

The above is a pic of the cigar box I altered for Terri. I started with a raw wood, "Michael's" box, removed the horrid hardware and sanded. Then a coat of gesso followed by the application of paper from the Ciao Bela Stack of DCWV. I cut out the circle from one page and adhered it on top of a nearly solid red one. Then I fussy cut the butterflies etc. from a second sheet of the same red page. I cut the sides from the same papers so the design is continuous around the sides and top. I adhered the vintage button on with E6000 and painted the inside and the bottom including the round ball legs with red acrylic. I also placed two lengths of lime green ribbon between the inside papers and the wood to create a self limiting effect so the lid would not flop back. The inside bottom of the box is from another piece of that same stack and the inside top is one of my favorite images taken from a vintage magazine. I trimmed the lower edge with flat back pearls and embellished the top with recollections roses, leaves and a vintage crochet doily, plus a metal dragon fly.

This is a pic of the 6 x 6 chipboard page, decorated both sides. There are two slider tags for journaling or photos. One slides out from the side, the other from the top. The reverse side of the 6 x 6 has a door, which when opened reveals a meadow lark. I stamped the bird cage onto a piece of the stack and heat embossed it with an antique embossing powder. The dragon flies are fussy cut from a Tim Coffey image I copied onto cardstock and coloured with copic.

This pic of the dress form shows the Marion Smith Designs tags mounted on those Tim Holtz circle pins. Love how she turned out. The small pic top right is of a dangle charm/key chain I made for my partner. She had requested something personalized with her name on it. I included some vintage laces, Michaels ribbon as per her wishes and the bottom pic is of the package before it hit the mail.
Terri's fav colours are black and red! Can you tell?

Above you see the box, dress form, inside the box with the 6 x 6 page, the pin cushion shoe with all those stick pins I made, the dangle charm personalized with her name and the button flowers I made. Those flowers are so much fun! There is a hand made shabby chic flower - white with a rose cameo in the centre, which I received in a swap I hosted on Life on the Scrap{beach}, from Kim Gillaspy. Her flowers are so amazing. Also I fussy cut those butterflies and  used some copic markers to enhance the colours.

This is the dress form I made using the Maya Road dress form mini as a template. It's cut from the cardstock line Ciao Bella DCWV and adhered using e6000 to a glass candle stick. The high heel pin cushion with stick pins I made for my sweet swap sis were so much fun and the hand made flowers I made using my "Knit Witt" were amazing.

I sent along a few other goodies but, wanted to post pics of the things I made for my swap partner first.
